Bugera v-22 Infinium or Egnator tweaker 15watt

I am going to be purchasing a new all tube amp my first one soon. And I have it narrowed down to two possible choices. I think both have great tones and there own plus and wow factors. I love all the different selections you can get with the Egnator but like the tube bias function of the Bugera. I think Bugera uses 3 12 ax7 pre as well as the Egnator but Bugera uses EL 84's I believe and Egnator is 6v6 x 2. Which one of these two do you players like??? Out of these two only and why just curious getting some input. Thanks

Hi, I haven't played the Bugera, but I own the Tweaker 15 and it's a very versatile amp. Everything from Fender cleans to Sabbath style tones (sounds great with a Catalinbread Naga treble booster). Takes pedals very well. If I was to only keep one amp, I'd keep the Egnater.

I did not like the Tweaker, in my opinion it is too hissy when overdriven and there is nothing you can do about it. I sold mine.

I've got a Tweaker 15 head. No hiss issues at all in mine, actually. It doesn't do modern metal.

Other than that, it rocks for cleans and overdriven sounds. And you can roll different power tubes for different sounds when pushed hard, with no biasing.

Mine has EHX 6CA7 tubes now and they're much firmer sounding in the bass and sharper in the highs .They give more of a Hard Rock edge.
It also really needs an EQ pedal in the loop. The amp's very conservative in the bass by itself and you can get a more aggressive midrange.

Are you gonna buy a head or a combo? I don't think that tonewise the Bugera is a match, not to mention Egnaters usually bring nice tubes stock. Mine had EHX and Ruby from the factory, and not Sovteks or whatever.

I wasn't all that impressed with the Tweaker 15 but I didn't spend all that much time playing through one. I do like the Rebels, especially the Rebel 30. I was looking specifically for an EL 84 amp and the Egnaters got me side-tracked a little bit. But I seriously considered the Rebel 20 despite not being an EL84 only amp. It was right at the very top of my budget and ultimately, I knew I would be settling for the 20 when I "wanted" the 30 (mainly because it's a 2 channel and the 20 isn't). Sorry, I know you only want input on the Tweaker or the V22.

As far as the EL84 amp, I really liked the Bugera and not just because of the price. I ultimately took the risk on the Bugera V22HD partly because of the price but I liked it compared to others that I was able to check out inside my price range (I thought I was going to end up with a Carvin based on playing one earlier).

I think I mentioned in another post that I don't think I would buy a Bugera if it was going to be my first tube amp or only amp, just based on reputation for possible QC/quality issues and mixed reviews on dealing with warranty service if needed. I haven't had a single issue with mine and I really like the amp. But it's not my first tube amp or my only amp. It's also fantastic with a 12AY7 in V1 if it still provides enough gain for your needs with that tube. Really gives a lot wider range to the gain knob on the lead channel. Otherwise, a 5751 helps as well. I usually plug straight in these days and I don't play out anymore but it takes pedals well too. I'd also like to put a tube rectifier in it. If it is still surviving past the warranty, that may be something I look into doing. If you do decide on the Bugera, consider purchase from a dealer who offers an in house warranty. I got mine from Sweetwater which offers a 2 year at no charge. I think Musicians Friend has an option too (they may charge for it). It covers the amp if Bugera ends up being a pain to deal with for warranty service. Real good piece of mind to have it backed by the dealer, especially if money is tight. Same may apply to Egnater. I read some things that weren't very complimentary of their service. Specifically on a know issue with the power transformers on some model/models. I think they fixed the issue by using different transformers on newer models but from what I've read, they were a nightmare to deal with and didn't always make it right on warranty claims.

Those are my honest thoughts. Go with whichever you prefer and good luck.

I own 2 tweakier 15... (Posted pictures last year on this forum)

I use 6L6 tube in the head (Yes, you can use these instead of the 6V6 tubes)

One combo
One head cab

Nice to play stereo in smaller clubs!

I have never tried the Egnator Tweaker so I can't talk about it; however, I love the Bugera V22. I gave it to a friend in a band called "Today The Moon, Tomorrow The Sun" and Cregg uses it in his studio. Great clean tones and take dirt extremely well.

I love my Tweaker 40!!! I honestly wish I had the 15 as well, then I could crank it WITHOUT the police showing up! The only drawback for me was no reverb but I got a Holy Grail & a full sized Hall Of Fame, both of which are probably better digital reverbs than what would come stock in the amp? Still, I love me some onboard verb!

Not trying to hijack this thread, but the Holy Grail is an incredible pedal, excellent choice!

I've had a V22 combo (not Infinium) for 10 years and in spite of all the complaints about quality, I've never had the slightest problem with the amp. I have changed most of the tubes, but I do that with all my amps (for tone shaping not because of poor quality). It's a great sounding amp, especially with the Swamp Thang speaker in it.

I don't have a Tweaker but I have had a Rebel 30 head which I adore. Absolutely love the tone and versatility...you can blend between EL84 and 6V6 tubes. Takes pedal extremely well, has effects loop, a good reverb and really good gain. Plus it is small and light weight. I actually like this amp better than my Marshall and Bogner.
