Building a custom guitar.

I'm building a custom guitar and wanted some opinions, advice and tips on it. This is my rough plan for how it will look and a rough plan for the electrics (note on the design there are 6 pickup and phase switches not 3, 3 is the correct number)

Re: Building a custom guitar.

to split the seth you will need to order a special 4cond version since they are usually old school braided shield wire. when it says tone knob treble and tone knob bass are you planning on a g&l style treble and bass setup or something else?

Re: Building a custom guitar.

Bolt on, no way I can afford a neck through on top of the wood and electric costs xD I was looking into a set neck but then it might become useless/unusable if the neck breaks

Bolt on or neck through?

Yeah the g&l style, im still trying to work out how exactly to do that though xD

In that case I may leave out the coil splitting

OK - I was asking because I don't know if that the neck joint in the image will be so good for a bolt-on, especially at 25.5in scale length.

It might not be, I may have to glue it if it doesn't work well

Re: Building a custom guitar.

The second point about your wiring is that with 2 conductor humbuckers doing anything OOP wiring is unadvisable - as not only do you risk the braided cable touching any ground and shorting, but that chassis ground gets connected to hot and gives you hum worse than any singlecoil.

Re: Building a custom guitar.

Are you sure about the body shape? Even if you glue it that may not be enough area to secure the neck super solid.

Re: Building a custom guitar.

I might tweak the body shape I know because of where/how I hold my guitar I want a longer body than normal or at least one that sets the neck further along, the neck is a worry atm but I want one with as much fret room as possible, wanted Gibson SG attachment but that just wouldnt be possible

Re: Building a custom guitar.

I'll make sure i keep an eye on it, i've looked at some similar pickup wiring and found one I want to make
