I don't know if you didn't read my whole comment, but this comment is not questioning the durability of the Epoxy itself, it's the substrate -soft oil or waxed based pencil cores with balsa or other light weight wood grips that epoxy does not permeate.

considering the pencils occupy over 90% of the body and epoxy only thinly encasing it and between only portions of the pencils, I am questioning it's strength at the neck pocket over time.

I'm not sure what's happening here.... I think I might have accidentally dug up past pain with my comment about the substrate at the neck pocket?

Just an FYI -After shooting this video -the maker tried to go all Jimi Hendrix and do a sweet teeth solo with his new colored pencil axe

A composite! A bit sketchy of a build. It doesn't look like it is made to play just blues.

I never thought of yellow as much of a tone color. Green has way better highs. Red/orange is of course a fairly warm tone color...

Ha, cool -was wondering -not my intent to piss anyone off on here -just knowledge, learning and light hearted jokes to make living easier.

This is more proof that quality hands can make a quality instrument out of anything:

Paul Waller and his cardboard Strat
Bob Taylor's pallet guitars
Alex Csiky has made guitars of odd materials
and I'm sure that there are many others out there who have made satisfactory to stellar instruments out of less than optimal materials.

The other guitar player in my band has a handmade pallet guitar -it's unreal. one of the nicest guitars I've ever played

Re: Building a guitar out of colored pencils

This, along with the carboard guitar, should end the tonewood debate.

Haven't listened this yet, but I'm honestly really surprised people took it like that. That cardboard guitar sounded like crap and it was obvious even in Youtube-quality video.

It should be used as example of exactly the opposite .

EDIT: Actually I don't think polycarbonate is bad material for guitar at all. Though I do like wood, it could sound really good on it's own right, and I wouldn't hesitate to rock out with good sounding one.
