Building my first Pedal

A good friend of mine got to try a vintage Klon when he went to New York recently. I know that nothing will get the exact tone, but I'd like to build him a Klone for his birthday in a couple months. Any tips?

1994 is vintage now? Well ****...

BYOC has discontinued their kit unfortunately but a kit is definitely the way to go for your first build.

I would try this one - http://store.generalguitargadgets.com/kits/kits-distortion/kc-complete-kit.html

If it is your first build, I would definitely go with an already made PCB, it looks like the mklec kit comes with tag board that you have to cut and jumper traces on, and you still have to find an enclosure so the difference in price is a no-brainer.

I was planning on it. I actually found that site and bookmarked it already. There's another that I'm looking at too.

Just PM me if you need any walk-through help for wiring it or if you have difficulty finding any specific parts. This will be the cheapest method, and is truly DIY.

Re: Building my first Pedal

I don't know if I'd do a Tagboard pedal as a first build... Maybe a kit booster, then a kit OD, then a tagboard OD. Just to get the soldering, troubleshooting and repairing skillset built up first.
