Building the "Heaven and Hell" (PG/Demon) Hybrid, STOP.. what the heck is this?

I am dismantling the Demon and there are what appear to be bare wires soldered to a copper foil around the coil to ground. WTF is this? Is it just to ground this foil casing?

I've never seen this on any other Duncan

Update:

I'm assuming the wire is as I suspect above (hopefully)

Both hybrids are built.

PG slug/Demon screw A2 @ 9.13 dcr

Demon slug/PG screw A5 @ 9.08 dcr

This could get interesting

Yep, that's just shielding, Ive just removed it when I've run into it in the past, comes off like tape, just be careful not to pull off any coil tape if you do remove it.

I'm interested to hear how you like it!

Yeah, my newer Custom5 is like that. I think it's cool Duncan goes the extra mile with a detail like that for noise rejection.

My TB-11 and TB-1 both have the copper shielding tape around the coils. Good idea.
