Ran across this site and it looks very interesting. I was hoping to get some practice on soldering in before I change out my pickups and this looks cool. I'd be interested in making the Range clone and the Squeeze clone. Has anyone made these pedals? How are they/how do they sound?

Looks like basic soldering skills would be all you need.

Sound no idea, not sure on what components they are gonna send you or what schematic they are based off of. Pedal schematics change, sort of like a 1975 Univibe is not the same as a 2004 UniVibe component or llayout wise.

I forget where I got the schematic, but a couple years ago I got bored so I went to Radio Shack and built a fuzzbox. Granted, since I did it all with parts from Radio Shack and I was just kind of making it up as I went (there was some improvisation when I had the wrong part), it turned out being a bunch of resistors and caps and stuff on a circuit board. It sounded very fuzzy though!

you know...i was going to buy a tube screamer but heck i think i rather build my own and after looking at the instructions it seems real easy...i may try it out.

I emailed that guy from buildyourownclones a while back and he was really friendly and answered some questions for me. I too have been contemplating doing something like this, but just haven't had the free time. He SAYS the stuff is a good a the orginals or better and most pof them are tru-bypass. I also like that fact the you can paint the cases and have a kind of one-of kind thing goin on. Cool Idea.

I've been looking more into this and have found some pretty cool plans, but I have some questions.

I plan on building a booster because it is said to be one of the easier projects and I read that Clapton only uses the booster built into his guitar now for his OD.

I want to build a booster that will give me some good blues breakup through my strat on the clean channel of my Classic 30, what type of pedal clone would you advise for this? Rangemaster? Bryan May Treble Boosetr? Something else?

If you can find some old Guitar Player magazines from the late 70's and early 80's, there was an electronics expert named Dave Anderton that from time to time would share certain projects of his with readers. Some of them were pretty cool.

those tube DIY pedals look really cool. I'd really enjoy using another fender preamp circuit that's incorporaed into a pedal and engaging it to pile smooth cleans on top of smooth cleans to get smooth gain. Heck, i could make a pedalboard full of fender preamp circuits and use them as badass boost pedals!
