Built a guitar humidor

Just before Christmas I got my 2nd quality acoustic, a Lakewood . Problem is in Arizona my music room has a relative humidit of about 20% all winter. Last year I tried to humidify the entire room with 2 humidifers but it was an exhausting process. It took 2 humidifiers running almost constantly to keep the room above 40%. This meant refilling them daily. this year I have kept my good acoustics in their cases with case humidifiers. A shame because I like to display my guitars. My electrics do fine, never had a single problem. Can't say the same for my acoustics. So in November I was flying back from Houston and saw an add for a guitar humidor in the onflight catalogue, basically a coffin shaped case with a glass door. I t gave me an idea. I have/had a bookcase in my music room. I fabricated a couple glass doors, installed halogen lights and weather stripping. viola a guitar humidor. Humidifying with silica crystals ( the cigar forum guys have this all figured out ; cat litter). Gotta say I am very pleased with the way it worked out.
The Lakewood is on the left - ziricote back and wides with a European spruce top. The one on the right is a PRS Angelus - cocobolo back and sides, adarondack spruce top.

That looks grate. Did you make/modify the doors yourself ?

I made the glass doors myself. Designed a backstop inside so I could create a seal. Did all the finishing as well. Was a bit of a pain getting a close match, took a couple tries.

Nice. Wouldn't work into case though. I have too many guitars. I have two machines running constantly to maintain my room where my electrics are stored but I keep all my acoustics in the case. It's a bit of a pain but they play well all the time and I don't have to worry about any damage
