Burns Tri-Sonic or Strat singles?

Hey folks,

I am upgrading the Ibanez 12 string guitar, and rearranging it to SSS layout. IMG_1133.jpg

The goal is to mimic the sound of Burns 12-string guitar:

So, I read quite a lot about the unique construction of the Burns Tri-Sonic pickups, and the question is: does this construction really affect this distinctive sound, or is it all more of mythology than reality, and strat singles will give similar effect?

Who has had the experience with these Burns pickups?

Thanks

Re: Burns Tri-Sonic or Strat singles?

Construction is crucial to pickup tone. You cannot mimic a strat pickup fully with bar magnets underneath, and whatever goes into the trisonics that is different will make them unique too. As to how different.....well some people have a fine ear to differences and others have less. I think if you are trying to mimic then its best to have everything accurate.
