Burny guitars?

I have on old one from the 80s and it delivers in spades.. Its pretty common knowledge over the web that these older Japanese copies were very good. Do other Burny owners agree? Anyone play the more modern ones? Im curious if they have improved over the last few years. Ive read where Duff plays them and Steve Jones switched after a rep came to see them. Im assuming they were approached with modern ones.
Id love to snag another old one, but the prices are climbing fast..

Re: Burny guitars?

All the recent Burnys I've seen have been MIC so I doubt they're much, if any better than the MIJ 80s stuff.

That and they're not so easy to find in the States. I've never walked into a store and seen one hanging on the wall.

Re: Burny guitars?

Jonesy switched because they gave him guitars at a time when Gibson had done nothing for him. They actually did a Jonesy sig before Gibson IIRC.

Duff and his band used them when I saw them, they must've had 5 or 6 of them.

I had a gorgeous LPC from them, MIJ, really built well, sounded killer but it was the weirdest thing. The guitar was actually larger than a regular LPC, like they translated the dimensions to metric and did it wrong. It was all in perfect proportion too. I sold to a friend of mine who is a human bear and he loves it. He was skeptical at first but after playing every LP he could get his hands on for a month he came back and bought it. It's been his main guitar for quite a while now.

I have an 80s one that pretty much whomps most LPs Ive ever played. weighs a ton tho!! 11lbs
Yeah, I read an interview with Duff about how he came to use em and saying how much he likes them. He can afford anything, so I figure the new ones must not be too shabby.thansk

Burny guitars are formally Fernandes gutiars IIRC

No, they are a subsidiary of Fernandes. But Fernandes is still out there

Re: Burny guitars?

You have to order them from a Japanese seller, and have them sent to your country. Isubashi (sp?) is one of the good ones. I don't know if you get hit with customs fees, probably depends on where you live. They have a webpage that can be viewed in English. There are some other sellers, they are also on Ebay but have their own web pages on the net if you search for them. They have risen in cost quite a bit in the last few years, but still nothing like the Gibson prices. The lacquer finish ones are the most expensive, and they usually have Duncan pickups. If you can find Epiphone Japan guitars, they actually have the Gibson headstock on them, but are harder to find now. There are some other decent brands from the Japanese market, the names escape me now but they are made by the bigger Japanese guitar companies.

Thanks Bro! yeah, I have a line on how to get em, but was just curious if the newer ones are as good as the old ones. I have one from the 80s that is awesome.
Edwards is probably who you were thinking of. (they are an ESP affiliate) I have been looking at those too.

Re: Burny guitars?

Honestly, I don't care. I would never buy a modern MIC as long as the old MIJ are available plenty.

Re: Burny guitars?

Yeah, Edwards is the one I was thinking of. I have had my eye on a couple of Edwards LP copies, either a Goldtop or the Lemon Burst. Real Duncan pickups too.

Re: Burny guitars?

In case it wasn't mentioned, the Edwards guitars are almost completely done in China, including all woodword, glue, fretwork and finishing. Japan puts electronics and does the setup and final inspection.

Not saying that's bad but I wish they would mark that better so that people knew what they are getting.
