Burstbucker 2 vs Pearly Gates (bridge pos)

Ok so I finally got my paycheck so tommorow I'm getting a new bridge pu for my Les Paul, its either going to be a Pearly Gates (bridge) or a Burstbucker (I may be buying it from a guy who has the BB 2&3 set, so the 2 must have been in the neck pos).

What should I get? I'm aiming for a versatile PAF type setup that'll take me to Jimmy Page land but still allow me to play nice chord-based pop like say The Strokes or smth. Im never using high distortion unless its fuzz, so I just need it to sound good at low (where I need clarity for playing chords) to medium gain (Led Zep style riffing and soloing, lots of attack and proper character needed here).

So what'll it be between the two, and is it a problem that the BB2 was used in the neck pos, are they different from bridge BB2s etc etc

thx

59 is the best Page pup according to Lew. I can see that. But a PG is awesome.

BB2 vs. PG - great question overall!

It doesn't matter that BB2 was in the neck position, it's absolutely identical to the BB2s that Gibson installs in the bridge.

IMHO PG and BB2 are both very good pickups, with PG being a little warmer.
