this has a nickel cover and I can almost guarantee you that it is a burstbucker. that is what I asked to be put in my barclay by Dave's guitar shop a very honest shop. it clocks in at 8.52K.
Hmm, would this make a good neck pickup combined with a Custom 5 in the bridge in a semi-hollow, all-mahogany Les Paul? Is it 4 conductor? $60 plus shipping sounds reasonable...
it's 2 conductor. with the shield surrounding the lead
i've never played a custom 5 so I'll just give you my tonal eval...which was in a 335 type guitar.
in the bridge position it was fairly bright, it had a tight bass and not a whole lot of mids. i don't really know how else to say it.
Your best bet is to call Dave's and ask exactly what model pickup this is (they installed). There is a pretty big price swing between a 400 or 500 series Gibson pickup and a Burstbucker. I know I'd want to know what it is....Just a thought.....
