Burstbucker Pro magnet switch?

I know the burstbucker pros are alnico 5 pickups.
Has any switched them over to alnico II or III magnets?

Re: Burstbucker Pro magnet switch?

With a A3 it will be a bit brigher and looser, should work great for neck slot.

+1. A3's are a good option when a neck PU with an A5 is too boomy or with an A2 is too dark. But, I don't see A3's working very well in the bridge slot.

A4 for the neck and UOA5 for the bridge could make those puppies usable. Even decent.

The A2 BBs, and the BB pro are different winds. While putting an A2 in a BB pro will sound closer to an A2 BB, it will not sound the same. Many years ago (2002?2003?) some guy did this on I believe the Les Paul forum, and posted clips. The BB pro w/ an A2 mag still sounded thinner and more brittle/harsh than a BB 2/1 combo. Though it was an improvement over the stock A5 BBP.

I have a BB1 w/ A2 in the neck of one of my LPs; I like it quite a bit. Not as clear as the better Duncans, but a cool vibe to it.
