Buying Duncans

I was looking at buying 2 Hot Rails pickups, and a Duncan Distortion or JB humbucker at the local shop and the prices averaged $129.99 for hot rails and about $119.99 for most humbuckers. I was just looking on Ebay at pickups and they are quite a bit cheaper. I believe LewsGuitars was the seller on ebay I was looking at, The Hot rails are about $90 CDN buy it now. Anyone know what kind of import fees and/or tax im looking at to buy off ebay?

The real question is: Is it actually cheaper to buy online than from the local shop?

Alot of times you could ask the seller to put a lower value on the package so you dont get hit as bad with fees and taxes. Though, I have never done this sort of thing when I have sold on ebay. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

For me - Deffinatley!

I'm looking at a good 70 - 80 quid everytime I wanna buy a pup from the UK, I can't remember the exact costs but I think when I ordered some from the US it worked out between 40 and 50 shipped including taxes. Could have been less I've completely forgotten

The Hot Rails retail for $104. Duncan doesn't like dealers to discount more than 30% so that makes them $73. I only ship with full insurance and that requires declaring the item at whatever the customer actually paid for it, otherwise, if it's lost or damaged in shipping I wouldn't be able to recover the value of the item to give the customer a full refund if requested. I don't know what duty Canadian customers pay. Sometimes none...sometimes a small amount. Of course, you wouldn't pay any sales tax. Thanks! Lew

Lew, would you be able to give me a quote with 2 hot rails and a JB shipped to Canada? If you could PM me one I would appreciate it. I figure even if I have to pay customs it should work out to be less than buying from the store. If so, Im gonna have to get you to send 2 hot rails and a JB my way next paycheck :D
