Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

Ever buy this way and have delivered to a local store? If so, can you inspect the item and reject/return it at the local store?

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

Yes, I have done this twice. Returning is extremely easy and they always offer this. However, I was happy with both purchases. I picked up a Dean USA Soltero MH and a PRS SC245 with 10 top. GC used prices on guitars are really hard to beat.

I've done it a few times. The opportunity to return it was always there if I wasn't satisfied, but I never returned anything.

I got a Behringer Keyboard amp from GC out of Florida shipped free to New Hampshire. It was only $50 probably $30 cheaper than anywhere I found them used online. The packaging job was top notch and the amp was in better condition than expected. It looks brand new.

Mostly get them shipped to the house
Some have free shipping some do not

When returning something
The purchase price is always refundable
The shipping charges depend on the condition
Of the product

If it is broken
Shipping is refunded

If you just don't want it
Shipping is not

+1
I've bought too much used gear from GC online. I usually ship to the store because it's frequently free and I can get an effectively instant refund if it wasn't what I was expecting. In fact it's probably my favorite way to buy used gear because I can't think of anywhere else with a 30 day return policy.

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

I have and its a great way to make a purchase online since GC has a return policy that is hard to beat by other online ordering methods.

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

Same here...I've bought a couple used guitars online from GC and had good luck each time.

If you're really concerned about condition, etc, you can call the store where the item is ahead of time and the guys are usually very willing to look over items for you while you're on the phone.

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

I bought several items from one GC and had it sent to my local GC. Sometimes I kept what I bought, had it price adjusted, or just flat out sent it back. The tricky part is sometimes, they fully reimburse you for shipping and sometimes they don't.... All depends on the clerk behind the counter...

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

This is such a timely thread. I was just looking at used cabs on GC used online. Some amazing low prices. Do you think this would still work for something as large as a cab? (Thinking 4x10 or 2x12.)

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

I have had mostly good dealings buying from the used site. I have only had two problems one was I ordered a music man axis when it arrived they left the trem arm in inside the case. when I opened it both post had pulled completely out and took some wood and paint with them. Also only 1 of the end latches were closed. The second was a mij Wolfgang special I got in last week that had the truss rod broke loose.
I did a thread about it. They did not give me any issues returning the axis. They did how ever give me some problems with the Wolfgang.

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

Highly recommend. Done it many times. Guitar Center is very picky over the quality of used gear they take in, and if there's any issue you can walk into any local guitar center and return it

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

Done it twice, great deal once, just OK deal once.

Re: Buying online used gear from Guitar Center

Ordered a Marshall amp from Connecticut I think, but they forgot to ship the cable for footswitch. Kept it for a couple weeks, never got the cable despite multiple calls (not a cheapo but its the principle of the matter), found a cheaper price elsewhere. Returned in local store, no questions asked.

Just bought 2 pedals last week. Ebay was $30 more each pedal. Delivered to my house no problems. Couldn't get free shipping tho, not sure how others got that.
