BW vs Nazgul vs DD-compare and discuss/making sure I'm entered for orange 78's thread

I have not used any of these yet, but I plan to use one of the BW or Naz6 in a new project soon. How do you guys hear them vs the DD (with which I have much familiarity)?

Compared to the DD, the BW is slightly tighter, leaner, brighter, more defined and clearer. Of the 2, I prefer the BW in mahogany. The DD does have a little more meat to it in brighter guitars though.

More clarity and more modern sound on Nazgul and BW. Much tighter lows as well. The Nazgul is the most aggressive of the 3. The Black Winter is probably the loudest, though it acts more like a mid output pickup. The distortion has more bass than either. The Nazgul has a low mid focus, and the black winter is very balanced and open.

In my opinion for versatility, BW
for just modern metal, Nazgul
for classic metal, Duncan Distortion.

cleans, BW takes it by a mile. All of the above are excellent pickups, but the black winter is by far my favorite.

I have experience with both the DD and BW, and I (very much) prefer the BW. The BW is more balanced, and it doesn't have the scream of the DD. The BW has more prescense, but no spikes.

I am very curious about the Nazgul. Every demo of them is low tuned, 7 string djenty stuff though, and that's not for me...

These are some interesting ones I may try in my next axe. I like high output pickups a lot for a bridge position, and it sounds like the BW or nazgul could be neat. was thinking the alt 8 though

I have a nazgul 7 and i think its a phenomenal pickup. I'm sure the 6 string version will be hust as nice

The nazgul has a prominent midrange spike that gives it a natural djenty flavor. It also helps with clarity.

I've played all of these pups now and prefer the BW.

I have a Nazgul 6 and this pickup is a beast!! Extremely agressive but also quite versatile I find.

Thanks guys! Looks like I'll be on the prowl for a BW.

I recently put an Alt 8 in my Les Paul and it kills. I thought the Air Zone in my Jackson sounded huge. The Alt 8 slays it. Both guitars are mahogany.
