Bying a set of saddles

Ever tried to do that?

I've been trying. Last time I failed and decided to try out full new Wilkinson bridge. Bridge was bit underwhelming, but saddles we're great and they're in my #1 guitar now.

Now I would like to get new saddles for another guitar and it's the same... Only 2-3 places I could find sell just a set of saddles separately. And they cost much more than just Wilkinson bridge with same or better quality saddles.

So I probably buy another of those lousy trems and ditch everything except the saddles. One would think they could make much more profit by just selling saddles for 80 % of the price of that whole bridge...

Yeah it's getting kinda wild for anything mildly premium, whether you want brass for vintage trem or OFR locking... ton of zinc crap for pennies, though

Oh right, SOME hardtail saddles fit SOME strat tremolos if you wanna save

What style saddles are you looking for? Fender vintage style, modern block, other? What material do you prefer?

What was wrong with the Callaham saddles?

Width. 56mm puts strings too close to the edge of fingerboard.

I have bunch of random trem parts around so I thought I could build a trem out of those. I'd still like to use Callaham block if I can get it fit.

I've been looking solid steel saddles.

I've done it...blocks and saddles rather than deal with weird baseplate holes...see if Graph Tech makes the width you need.
