BYOC Yellow Overdrive Build Complete

Not too bad a project, but lots of "tiny" work and tiny parts where I actually had to get the magnifying glass.

Definitely need a helping hands utility; a lifesaver. There's no way you're gonna solder this sucker together without them.

Prepping the teeny-tiny wires for the 3DPDT is a chore.


Anyways, it's done. And sounds frigging great!

This is another killer boost for Marshalls (have to try my blackface Fender yet).

Has a natural hi-pass (no flub here) and the asymmetrical clipping gives it just the right bite - "warm crunch" is what comes to mind.

The tone is so good, you don't need a tone knob. No shit.

So here's some pics; I went with a simple Sunshine Yellow gloss with 3 flat black bumblebee stripes.

Glad to hear it sounds great, BYOC is cool about sourcing the original chips for OOP pedals. But, where are the tiny parts? (just yanking your chain, those thru hole parts are huge by today's standards...)

Hah yeah! Well I'm used to dealing with amp & guitar sized components, not little itty-bitty resistors, caps and wires forged by the Keebler elves.

And yeah those surface mount components like on motherboards etc... gotta have machine for that microscopic crap.

I've heard good things about the original OD-1s, that and the Orange Distortion would probably make a great pair. If I only had an amp to run them in to :2:, running direct just isn't as much fun.

The BSIAB is pretty awesome, it's the OG of the amp in a pedal pedals.

I'm glad your build turned out better than mine. I just finished a Klone with PCB from Aion FX yesterday, and it didn't turn on. I hate debugging circuits.

I had some issues when I built the BYOC Overdrive II, which was this TS circuit with lots of switches. I got it sorted out on their forum. Resistors start looking the same after awhile.

Hoping BYOC gets some more stuff in stock in 2021 -stock was pretty brutal in 2020.
