C5 Clip

Of course, you'll get the sound of my personal set-up (which I don't really like by the way), but that can be an indication anyway. Details of the setup are on the site. I actually like the C5 for rythm but not for lead... I prefer a more "insane" lead so to speak, that's why I'm actually selling the C5. See my post in the trading forum here:

Thanks Xerxes... I'm not too satisfied with the tone of my recordings... I wonder If I shouldn't buy some digital gadget just for that. Korg Ampworks sounds pretty good. Sans Amp GT2 also. Currently, I go direct with a cab simulator. What I like is the fact I get a raw tone.

But the C5 will go... I'll put the ceramic back and maybe try an A2 magnet to give a shot at the CC. The Custom remains my favorite so far.

Great clip, Sly_D! I've been wanting to hear exactly that kind of sample for a long time. I have a Custom in my Les Paul and have no intention of swapping it out, but I was always curious what that "C-5" was about. What kind of guitar was it in for that clip?
The Custom in my axe sounds just a bit more deeper than the C-5, but I still like that tone....it screams nicely.
It's tempting to buy one and try it just to hear the real deal.

there ya go man, i mean i dont want you to do this if you dont feel up to it, but its not that difficult and john made a great tutorial......... just thinkin the cost of the mag ($5 or so) will save ya an extra $60 since you wont have to by a C5 seperate

sorry for intruding on your thread SLy D........... the clip is awesome man, the C5 is sweet in that musical environment, i love the tone and playing

Hi midnite_man,

Yes, I also searched for clips like that because a lot of people are posting very processed clips... it's OK but personnaly, I think all pups and guitars sound the same with a digital gadget (like the POD, v-amp or Digitech), the sound is too colored.

In my setting, the sound is very in-your-face.

My gear was as followed (the ceramic magnet of my Custom is now back in the guitar):

Epi LP Custom -> Boss SuperOverdrive (SD-1) for slight boost - Peavey Bandit II ---> from the pre-amp out into a Behringer Ultra-G direct box with 4X12 cab simulation -> sound card -> Cool Edit Pro 2.

I have a Custom in the bridge and a Pearly Gates in the neck. Don't care too much for the PG, I don't know why, but it has no effect on me.

The Peavey Bandit will go. Too big and powerful for my current needs. I finally decided to go with the Tech 21 Trademark 10. I heard it sounds killer and it has a direct recording out, and it can be connected to a PA. That'll be OK for the time being. A big amp (tube or not) is more cumbersome than anything for me and pretty useless in a small house. I don't gig currently.

I'll post some new stuff as soon as I get the new amp.
