C5 vs CC

Just put in the C5 in LP copy bridge. Well on 1st impression,as someone else here stated'pretty un-eventfull' kinda blah! Into Fender Twin. Doesn't distort at all and doesn't drive Amp very hard.Split it's pretty weak. Set much higher than I usually do Bridge pup. Does the CC distort more? Kinda like the JB with a A2 better than this.

Re: C5 vs CC

More wrong than just the magnet.... No reason that you cant get distortion out of a C5. I would be thinking either its wired wrong or way too low. If thats not it I would look at a different amp. The tone of the C5 may not be what your after but it sure shouldnt lack in the oomph department something else is wonky.

Re: C5 vs CC

Yeah, if you are running a C5 in a Les Paul and your amp won't distort the problem is not the pickup. The C5 does have a clearer tone than the CC, but it should absolutely scream with some gain. What channel are you playing it through, and are you using an overdrive pedal?

Re: C5 vs CC

Alway's use the Clean channel with like a Red Square or DLS, I mean it's a Fat 59 sound but with little distort [aka JB].Wiring wise?? It split's. Heard some SD clip's,longer clip's of CC,clean, power chord, medium gain.single note of CC sounds much more dynamic than C5. And the Treble on C5 down the neck get's really harsh.

Re: C5 vs CC

First impression in reading the OP is that you want your amp to distort, not your pickup. Mainly because pickups don't distort. It's what we do to the signal between the guitar and the speaker that does that.

Re: C5 vs CC

You wont get more gain with a CC infact you will get a bit less than with a C5. Harsh treble sure maybe that i can see but you got something else going on. Is the C5 wired in series or parallel?

Re: C5 vs CC

Thanks! Got a JB in one of my Strat's ,lookin for something similar but not the same in this one.

Ya will do the solder check ,seem's like the place to start. But like I said it does split and is functional.???????

Re: C5 vs CC

Ya but if ya got the dough ,'go for it"" Ok reworked the wiring, got good output, split not as good as JB IMO,that Treble blow the 12th is pretty hard to take. And I think the CC with the A2 and more Mid's is more the ticket for me. I'll pick up some UOA5's just in case. Thanks all!

If you are looking to get a Twin to distort buy an overdrive or a boost. Fenders don't break up easy especially something as big as a twin.

Re: C5 vs CC

werd Bruce. I was just about to say the biggest/first problem here is the AMP.

Even a Custom isn't gonna do it for you. Twin is a HUGE headroom shiny clean amp period. That C5 will go death metulz brootul through say a Marshall JVM….

A CC will not do it either.

Try a distortion pedal if that's what you want. Custom 5 plus raging pedal plus Fender Twin set on loud - that should be awesome.

I can get where I wanna go with the JB in my Strat with any of my 4 OD's at noon or so.Now some would call it Crunch level not distort but that's my description.Ace, it's funny cause I'm pretty sure it was U that posted, CC can do Duane real well??? I think it was you.And I hear some JB like harmonic's in some clip's I've heard of the CC.So I figure go for it.Just another puzzle piece in the never ending tone search.lol!
