Cabinet woods?

I don't have much experience in this area. Is there a great tonal differance in differant wood types for cabinets? I have a 1x12 cabinet that I made out of some 7-ply poplar that sounds pretty good. If I made an identical sized cabinet out of baltic birch would I hear a big differance? Thanks.

I'm not sure about poplare verses Baltic Birch. I know that if I had a vintage tone Fender style amp, I'd want a pine cabinet. So there probably is a tonal difference betwee the woods. Baltic Birch plywood seems to be used in Vox style amps.
