Cables...

I need a new cable since mine has been stepped on/pinched too many times. I'm thinking about getting a George L vintage cable (www.georgels.com)

What cables do you play/recommend?

Re: Cables...

George L's are great for pedalboards, but I don't like their connectors for guitar->board and board->amp connections. For them, I prefer a good quality cable with a lifetime replacement waranty (since all cables eventually die). I used BRTB Canada, which won't be much use to you, but I suggested checking out Planet Waves.

Re: Cables...

If you do check out planet waves, definetly avoid the low-end cables, but that's true with most companies, avoid low end fender cables, etc... etc....
I'm using Monster Cables, and they are working just fine.
Rock on :burnout:

Re: Cables...

Planet Waves! Although in the FX loop, I don't notice a tone loss using Livewires.

Re: Cables...

I use Monster cables and Planet Waves Circuit Breaker cables. The best ever!

Re: Cables...

Don't use monster cable.
They purposfully make them too big for standard plugs.
Therefore gradually stretching them enough so you can't use a normal plug and must use monster cables only...

Re: Cables...

I've used a variety of cables from high-end Monsters to cheap $2.00 Radio Shack ones.

....there's no bloody tonal or sonic difference. All you're paying for with a premium cable is the warranty.

The best advice I can give is to learn how to make your own and then you can cretae them to the length you desire.

Re: Cables...

Planet waves, try it, i wont use anything other than planet waves now.

Re: Cables...

There is a small music shop that sells these nice cables never had a problem with them. They aren't "Name brand" but they do have a Lifetime warranty with the store and last long, they are fairly inexpensive too.

Re: Cables...

Tied all of the above cables. If you have a rack get the George L cables (red with gold ends) For speaker, guitar and larger patch cables definateley get VOODOO cables. My friends and I went thru a cord comparison frenzy a while ago and the VOODOO cables won hands down, even against George L. Check it out at www.voodooamps.com. Trust me, I am a tonemonger and so are my other guitarist buddies. Voodoo beat out Monster, Planet waves, George L. and every cable we could get our hands on. Actually the $145 Monster cable at 15 ft was the next best but the Voodoo 20ft cable still sounded better.

Re: Cables...

i'm using planet waves.. but any properly shielded cable should do the trick.. compare them to the "cheaper" ones.. just notice their thickness!

Planet Waves, and you won't be able to use any other cable! :smack:

Seriously, the springs on them expand inside your jack and eventually kill it... I had to have the jack replaced on my RS 530 because of this.

What happens is it eventually expands it so only planet waves cables with the springs will stay in your guitar... After a while I tried using my second cable (a cheap venom one) and it honestly would not stay in the jack.

Very high quality products indeed, I'm not doubting that, and the circuit breaker feature is great for changing guitars live but be wary of what it'll do to your jack...

Kinda what Grandor found out about monster cables
