Calling on hermetico once again...

Re: Calling on hermetico once again...

I know it is easy but... that's when you feel yourself sure about all this stuff.
I can understand Bosu because I had the same feelings one year ago. Knowledge and practice make things easier.

Yeah, I wasnt trying to dis anyone. When I first opened up a guitar, I was like, What the hell? Lots of reasearch and people like yourself, and Artie, and Mike S, help more that I could have possibly imagined. Thanks again!

Re: Calling on hermetico once again...

I guess the moral here is that everybody needs to remember that people like Hermetico make up these diagrams to be nice, they don't have any obligation to do it, nor do they gain anything from it. So be nice and try to return the favour and be as helpful as you can.

Amen, bro. Thats why (assuming I can) I try to help others, because others have definatly helped me. (many times!):thanks:

Re: Calling on hermetico once again...

Just an example of the kind of guy I am, I pm'd Super rad ska(Ryan) About some a-2 mags, and He just simply said he would send me some, for no charge. So I returned the favor, and simply because I was overstocked on pickups at the time, I sent him a alt-8 I had lying around. He returned the favor, and sent me an a-2, a-3, caps and a 500k p/p pot.:friday:

yup, mcearlock, and most of the people hanging out in the pickup lounge are the nicest people around, so definitely return the favor:fing2:

Re: Calling on hermetico once again...

So you're saying that only Hermetico does them right, even though he put a Tone control in the first diagram in this thread after you clearly stated you were replacing it with a blend knob?

You simply keep piling up more and more evidence there's "something else" going on with this.
That is a common mistake , it's a strat style after all... I'm with everybody else on here as far as the respect for Hermetico's work. Where are you, mr. "hot for teacher - no thanks, I like little boys"?

Re: Calling on hermetico once again...

Patience is the mother of every science.

I've got a life outside SD forums, man!.
:eyecrazy:

No problem, I will try to do the best that I can with the grounds. Sorry this thread kind of turned into a idiotic circus, dragging your name into it. All I wanted was a diagram or info on it, and none of the shananegans...

Re: Calling on hermetico once again...

Hey man, don't call me to the war. Take it easy. If you are having a bad day try to punch a dummy, not me.
I make mistakes for sure. I am not a robot (well programmed). MikeS is calling my attention with some of them (thanks, Mike!).
Since he didn't clarify the model, I thought that he had the typical strato-like axe, with three controls (1 vol + 2 tones).

I wasn't dragging you into it. Bosu basically stated you were the only one who knew anything about wiring, and were the only one who could do it right, which to me was a slam against Mcearlock mostly as well as everyone else who backed up Mcearlock's revision. I questioned Bosu's reasoning based on the errant Tone knob. That wasn't a dig against you, it was against his reasoning. It certainly wasn't my intent to slam you. I've actually learned a lot about more advanced wiring options from your diagrams since I've been here than I've been able to figure out on my own, so I definitely appreciate your time. Heck I even started a thread asking for your input on something, but I didn't panic when you didn't respond

And Bosu, I never said I liked boys. I like Women. I'm 40 years old. You can have all the "girls" out there, I'll devote my time to the Women.

And I've helped where I can, though I have also admitted that I've not been following Duncan's recommended diagrams for things like coil-splitting, which means I've been doing it wrong for about 25 years  (been splitting to the wrong coil, anyway)

But Hermetico confirmed everything we've been trying to tell you since Page 1 - that Mcearlock's revision was correct - so now this thread can go the way of the Do-Do.

The ground are grounded to the case of the volume pot, and the case of the blender pot. "Other grounds" refers to the bridge wire that attaches to the bridge. The only way I know to help you more, would be to come over and wire it for you, which I would be willing to do, if you lived close to me.
Idiotic circus? I think you made it that way. All I did was modify Hermetico's Diagram to your specs. Just trying to help. If you are disrespectful to others that are trying to help you and answer your questions so you can get this done right, the I am SURE in your future posts, you will be ignored.

Thanks for backing me up on this. Just trying to do my part!

Thanks a great deal for the help. I was not trying to be disrespectful; with me not knowing much about electronics (that grounds can go anywhere), it looked to me like a hack job. All I wanted was a clean, correct diagram to work from; is this too much?
But anyway, I think I'm starting to understand a bit about this ground thing... Thanks.

First of all it's Busu, not Bosu. So you're basically saying I'm giving Hermetico too much credit.I guess I will have to trust others for their advice... One question then: who else on this forum helps by putting together those diagrams?
I was not panicking, I'm just as impatient as anybody so every time I would chime in, I would try to get his attention. If there's others capable, then this would've been a different story.

No problem at all, man. I would like to get hermie's software for making diagrams. I think I will ask him. Anyway, Did you get it all sorted out?

It took me a while but I made it work; only the blender wiring was a bit different than what I had from Hermetico, but I did steal the blender wiring from Fender. I was amazed it actually worked considering my inexperience and the fact that I had the wrong 3ways.
I would like to thank Hermetico again for his unmatched resources, plus the rest of you that gave me good advice.
Now I'm on to finish my ibanez rg/p-rails/kinman/tremol-no project. With the Yamaha behind me, I have confidence I will get "the dream" guitar done as well (by this the end of this week actually). Thanks again.
