Came across my very FIRST amp in my parents attic while visiting tonight....

Re: Came across my very FIRST amp in my parents attic while visiting tonight....

Dude! I'll bet it sounds better than you remember it!

Probably so. This thing is vintage in my book. I got it given to me when I started playing back in high school probably around 2003 or so and it was old then. Not sure what year it was made in.

Great memories I'm sure.

Cool little amp. Peavey's have a little silver panel with the serial number, and the date is coded on that.

Thanks for that info bill. Where can I look it up online to see what year it was manufactured in though?

Blue, Grey, and White knobs indicate late 80s to early-mid 90s at least. In the mid-90s they went to smaller black knobs with silver-ringed caps, at least according to my mid-90s Bandit Transtube 112.

That thing just screams 1985.

Dude that's awesome! The first amp I had was a a Peavey–built in to the case of an old T-15. Peavey made great stuff!

Looked just like this:

That thing DOES scream 1985.....I plugged it up today and much to my surprise, it still worked. It took my pedals really well too. I didnt expect much from such a small amp....But, it did bring back some early memories.

Re: Came across my very FIRST amp in my parents attic while visiting tonight....

I had one of those Peavey's as well from 89-90' I think. I remember it being a decent little amp.

The ear has no memory.
Have we reached the stage where virtual guitar amps and digital simulations have lowered the bar so significantly that this old piece of junk is now considered a decent amp?!

No need to be a party-pooper... it's an heirloom and a great memory!

guitarSQUIRREL, that thing looks pretty fun! My first amp was a little tiny Crate with about a 6" speaker and a HORRIBLE distortion... (come to think of it, it had a horrible clean channel too!) I would absolutely add that puppy back into your gear arsenal... you never know when it'll come in handy!

Not being a party pooper, but there is no need to celebrate mediocrity for excellence. Yes, it's a treasured family heirloom that I am sure will be passed down to future generations of guitarSQUIRRELs ... but that doesn't turn this amp into something it's not.

Jeez, I didn't say it was in the class of "excellence". It's a decent little starter amp.

Trey, that thing looks like it would be pretty nice and portable.

Yeah man, wish I still had it! Sold it with just about all of my other gear when I moved from Texas to South Carolina for college.

I remember cranking it to distort that poor lil 1x8 or whatever was is that lil amp.

Peavey made things that could take a beating for sure!

Congrats on finding yours--ignore the haters man, it's a great lil amp to practice notes on when you can't crank that AC15 ;)

Dude, nobody here is equating it to an original Fender Blackface...we are just saying its a solid practice amp with a cool story--it was the dude's first amp.

I'd say you are walking a fine line with the forum rules. You've made your point--no need to trash the OP's amp any further.
