Can a Mesa 2X12 compete with Bogner/Diezel

I am in the market for a high-end 2X12 cab with vintage 30s.

Bogners are impossible to find in stock, are pretty expensive but they are great.

I have never seen or heard a Diezel in person but they are pretty expensive ($750 + S&H). I am sure this is a killer 2X12.

I can go to GC today and buy a Mesa 2X12 for $500 or so. Is this cab in the same league or should I hold out for a Bogner or Diezel?

Also, let me know if anyone has ever tried a Diezel 2X12- that is what I am leaning towards. Tone Merchants has them in stock right now.

The Bogner is much, much better IMO. While the Mesa sounds flat with V30s, the Bogner just sounds more articulate and clear. I haven't tried the Diezel though, but I'd recommend saving up for a Bogner. How much do they go for in the US? We pay about 800 euros new, and they're made in the US right so shouldn't they be cheaper there?

I say pick up the MESA. They're solid, well built cabinets that will last you a lifetime.

do what drew said. wood is wood, if they got the shape you want, go for it.

Problem is that the Avatar isn't the same shape.

Mesa cabs are very good. I dunno that the Bogner or Diezel are going to sound terribly different. That said, different amps have a preference for different cabs. It's not a given that a "better" cab will sound better in your rig.

I was thinking of buying a Mesa 2X12 at GC and just returning it if it sucked. I am generally not a big Mesa fan.

Anyone else?

They certainly don't suck, they're quite good. I just think the pressure and richness the Bogner adds is simply amazing

Rock/Metal.. not death metal.

I forgot to mentioned Splawn cabs which I hear are killer and compete with Bogner all day long. They were recommended to me by a trusted source.

I usually always see at least one Bogner 212 on Ebay, I haven't looked lately but I've been following the Shiva heads and stumble across the bogner cabs.

I've never played a Bogner or Diezel cab, but I have a mesa recto 2x12 with V30s and I think it's an excellent sounding cab... I haven't gigged with it in quite a awhile, but it's very well made and durable IMO...

If that were true, we'd all be happy with Marshall MG 4x12 cabs. ;)

Anyone else? I'd like to hear from Boogie owners who have tried Bogner and like Boogie better. Anyone tried the Splawn cabs? I have heard nothing but great things about them.

I am thinking about picking up a Mesa 2X12 tonight on my way home and checking it through my VHT.
