Can anyone identify these Seymour Duncan Humbuckers?

I have just acquired these two Seymour Duncan humbuckers in a customised Strat, all I know is they at least 10 years old. They both have a black backplate and 4 core wiring, the neck is stamped Seymour Duncan Made in USA they bridge just Seymour Duncan. Both have the small Seymour Duncan logo on the front white coils. See photos, they sounded great but I’m going for a single coil set up. Would be helpful to know what they are so I can sell them on.

Re: Can anyone identify these Seymour Duncan Humbuckers?

Those are commonly called “black backs.” They are OEM models.

We need DCR Resistance readings from both pickups to determine the models. But my guess is - after reading some forums - a Tb CC and Pearly Gates neck.

Looks like they are supplied by Seymour Dunacan to Ed Roman guitars in Las Vegas, this makes sense as that was where the guitar they came in was customised. One guy says they are likely to be a Custom Custom bridge and Pearly Gates neck? Maybe they had other models supplied also.

Re: Can anyone identify these Seymour Duncan Humbuckers?

Is that actual black material or just shielding paint slathered onto the usual baseplates?

If it's the same as the Black Winters and Nazgul/Sentient/Pegasus, it's not just shielding paint.

Re: Can anyone identify these Seymour Duncan Humbuckers?

All OEM supplied Duncans at one time had black backs, not just what Roman was offering. You really need to meter them so we can narrow it down.

Re: Can anyone identify these Seymour Duncan Humbuckers?

Yes, and Ed Roman black backs look different. The stamping is different.

You can tell on the back of both pickups pictured that they had a sticker on them at one time that would have identified them. If these came out of a super strat, one good bet would be a JB/Jazz set. The CC/PG set hamerfan listed was another popular set. DCR readings would definitely help us narrow them down.

I think the pickups Roman claimed were something exclusive were actually regular production winds.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

You mean they weren't even fakes cooked up in a sweatshop?

How refreshingly almost-honest for Roman

Kind of looks like someone painted over the stickers to me, at least on the trembucker. Or maybe my eyes are going bad.
