Any regular drill bit will work. Just pop the plate with a center punch so your bit isn't as likely to wander when you start the hole.
It's way too easy.
The jacks I used were the plastic, made for PC type that you see in Marshall amps and Boogie speaker cabs. I'll ask my tech where he gets them but really, the Switchcraft jacks will work just fine.
