Hello everybody

Can anyone tell me the construction of the singlecoil 1980's Ibanez Blazer pickups?

I know many people hate the things, but I kind of like them.

From what i've gathered on the net, they have a blade ..either magnet or steel.. i'm not sure. They are quite bright/shrill ..so i was thinking ceramic, but that could also due to the brass bridge?
I'd like to know what magnets are used, if they have similar windings to any other pickups.. stuff like that.

I want to get a custom humbucker made of basically two blazer single coils but wound a little hotter.

Cheers for any information offered :)

I have played my first big live perfomance 30 years ago on a Blazer with "Quarter pound" style single coils like that:

To my ears, they weren't shrill at all... they had a big thick mag stuck under their big pole pieces. If memory serves me, the mags were ceramic.

I had changed these pickups for SSL1's and it was apparently a good decision, since the current owner of this guitar still plays it as it is...
