can guitar strings ruin your neck?

this one guy at harmony central was saying that you have to use peavey wolfgang strings on your wolfgang, which are 9/11/15/24/32/40 and not any other brand like 9/11/16/24/32/42, because it'll ruin the neck...i find this hard to believe...anyone know?

Yep, he's an idiot. However, since those guitars have pretty thin necks, I wouldn't use 12's or hybrids with heavy bottom and slinky tops for fear of the neck twisting.
