can I do this?

Reckless Abandon

New member
I want my JCM 800 combo to become a head. I get a rattle from the combo. I have an extension cab coming to remedy the problem but I do not want to carry the combo around with out a speaker.

I know ear candy cabs does if you order cabs from them. I ordered from them and they said it will cost me 175-300 dollars.

Will it fit in an empty Marshall head?

Re: can I do this?

The width and depth are the same, but the combo has the tubes and trannies hanging down...The head has the tubes and transformers on top....The controls and control panel are opposite the head version also....

Re: can I do this?

You could just relocate the tubes and trannies...it would take a bit of elbow grease, but I've seen heads stemming from combos (i.e. a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe--I'll get you the link if I can find it).

Edit: http://www.vintone.com/rc_hrdhead_tol.html There's the link. Although the tubes still are hanging down, he did have to relocate them from their original position.

Just get an empty headbox and flip it upside down!

Or, cut the bottom of the combo off, retolex, and wah-lah.

that's what i was going to say...if resale value doesn't matter, i'd do that. cut off the bottom replace it without the speaker area and put on some cool tolex (red etc...)
