Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

Which Wilkinson trem, and which "standard" strat trem? MIA? MIM?

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

uh, i dunno. the wilk's im thinking of are the strat-style ones that r found on carvins. as for the strats...i guess the model with the block saddles, not the vintage.

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

The VS100 is a drop in replacement to the Am Std trem. Logic dictates that the US trem should work.

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

Dunno why you'd want to put an inferior trem in place of a Wilkinson though:confused:

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

Some folks prefer the sound of the vintage trem. I know I would.

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

So that means youcould put a wilky in place of a MIA trem?

In my experience, Wilki's don't stay nearly in tune as well as properly set up strat trems. The Wilki's sound pretty good, but there is something about strat trems, that...i dont know...i like!

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

Not to highjack the thread, but I have an OLP MM1 that has a vintage Strat style trem... I've been thinking about replacing the trem with a Wilkinson, do they make a 6 screw vintage style trem?

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

The 2 point VS100N is a direct replacement for 2 point MIA trems. Better? Personal preference. I'd be surprised to hear of tuning stability issues with VS100N, as the saddles lock down.

The VSVG will drop in the pre-06 highway one bodies and has a little margin for variation due to the elongated screw holes. It may be a direct replacement for many other fender 6-screw trems, though I'm not the guy to ask regarding the different models of Fender 6-screw trems over the years.

Which model? My experience has been the exact opposite.

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

i would say forget all that go to one of those really vintage sites and pay 1000 dollars for a real vintage bridge

Re: Can I replace a wilkinson trem with a standard strat trem?

Then there is Callaham... and at least get a little more specific about what models they fit.

I used the Mexican Enhanced for my 2006 Fender Hwy One.
However, I use the Wilkinson pop in arm with it... no threads... nice.
