Re: Can I see some Teles?
$50 Craigslist Chinese Squier Tele. The ceramic bridge pickup isn't bad, but it lacks definition. The guitar came with 500K pots which is an odd choice for a Tele. The top loading Squier bridge sucks because the intonation screws bind the strings and the string angle is awkward for changing strings. The pickup hole is also too small for the Vintage Noiseless bobbins and I ruined a pickup because it rubbed the bobbin.
Parts changed:
GFS 3 ply pickguard.
GFS hot mini neck.
Changed volume to a 250K pot.
Changed wiring from modern to 50's. The neck is too dark with the 250K volume. I will swap the 250K volume with the 500K tone pot. If the bridge or neck is too bright I will modify it with a 1.5 meg resistor to be a 375K pot or I will run a 500K resistor in parallel with the bridge pickup so it sees a 250K load.
Parts on order:
Fender Vintage Noiseless bridge.
Fender Malmsteen brass nut.
Ferrules.
6 saddle string through bridge.
Roller string trees.
