Can SD build one screw coil, one rail for Strat?

I want a Keith Richards 50s PAF'esque for Strat neck. I was thinking one screw coil towards bridge, one rail coil towards neck, vintage neck wind, Alnico 4 magnet. Anybody seen SD do anything like this? Keef Jr! lol.

Kind of P-rail with a strat coil instead of p90. I think doable with using the P90 bobbin with alnico poles instead of the pole screws. But under the bobbins the alnico meet the bar mag then?
But the big question is, what new sonic worlds are you aiming at?

As in a keef-eque tone or similar to a pickup he has in one of his guitars?

If your after his tone it's pretty much bridge all the way, a LP bridge in the late 60's & tele bridge after.
He also played a lucite dan armstrong guitar for a short period in his pomp

Oh, i figured out what you want, a wide range humbucker in single coil size?

I've seen HB size wide range a likes but never single coil size

Wide range pups use CuNiFe rods & sound really unique you won't really get the tone any other way especially in sc or reg hb size.

But again I doubt Keith used it very often & pretty much stayed on the bridge

The rail won't do anything for you to provide the tone you want. Just get a Little '59 and set it low to control output, not a mag swap. If you are thinking Custom Shop, then just tell them you want it wound as a neck pickup.

So the rail wont simulate slugs? I guess what I'm looking for is a strat sized Saturday Night Special.

How do you know what magnet type you need in a hypothetical pickup?

It is far far far better to call the custom shop and tell them what sound you want and let them handle the details instead of telling them a bunch of parts then they have to try to force those parts to sound like you want.

Its simple a rail is not the same as slugs and certainly not normal humbucker slugs.

Its going to be hard enough to make a strat sized pup sound like a PAF, let the custom shop figure out the parts needed.

You're over thinking it. Just get the Little '59 and tune it to taste. Send it in to have turns removed if it's too hot/dark.

FWIW, Keith, who owns some ungodly number of guitars, is the guy who famously said something like, "It doesn't really matter which guitar I'm playing. Give me five minutes with one, and I'll make it sound the same."

Just ask the custom shop to make you a “Keith Richards 50s PAF'esque for Strat neck” and let them figure out what specs are required. Every great pickup that was created started with a sound goal in mind, not a predisposed requirement of particular parts to use. Restricting to specific parts usually results in a failed experiment. It’ll sound like something, but not what you wanted.

hahaha...yall are right, I'm overthinking. I emailed the Custom Shop. Thanks.

Sounds like the Custom Shop Pearly Gates for Strat Neck will do the trick!
