Can somebody post old style EMG schematics?

Something Cool
EMG's website only has schematics from after they switched to their fancy pots.

Could somebody post the schematics on how they want you to wire up volume and tone pot from before those pots and ideally before quickconnect?

Re: Can somebody post old style EMG schematics?

The principles of hardwired EMG active pickups are no different from the Solderless versions. Signals, grounds and the battery power feed.

Re: Can somebody post old style EMG schematics?

You DO know that you can use the diagrams for the Blackouts in the same exact way as the older style EMG's, right??? It's the same thing: The black wire is the braided outer wire on the EMG, the white wire is the smaller inner white wire on the EMG, and the red wire is power.

The ONLY thing that may be different is the tone pot cap size/value. Other than that, you can use the Blackouts diagrams the same way as the older EMG stuff...

Not if you're trying to figure out how to connect quick connect EMG 35CS bass p'ups with an older, pre-quick connect BCTS circuit. ;)

Re: Can somebody post old style EMG schematics?

I raised the question because I was specifically curious about the tone circuit that they suggested.

I had recalled that maybe that had made a real LPF instead of just the capacitor-and-pot-in-series thing, and I had seen schematics on the web like that (you can tell by the non-empty outer lug in those schematics).

Not true... There's ways you can use the older hard-wired system or components with any of the newer quick connect stuff. It's a matter of cutting the little connector piece off and stripping a small amount of insulation off the wire(s), soldering them to what ever connections - i.e. inputs, outputs, ect... - and then heat shrink tubing the soldered cconnections you made.

I can tell you first hand regarding this, because I have and use plenty of new and older EMG pickups and components in many of my guitars. I've also made such things as my 9-18V switches, Shadow KillPots, and EMG concentric pots all quick connect to use with the newer system. I can post pics if you or anyone's interested to see that it CAN be done...

Re: Can somebody post old style EMG schematics?

Right. But I have a green and a black wiring sticking off the BCTS that is otherwise unexplained.

*Do you mean a BTC?
*Is it a single EMG control? If so, Is there 5 wires that come off the component, red, green, two black and a white? If yes, then the connections on the 5-wire harness are as follows:
-White: Input
-Black #1: Input Ground
-Black #2: Output Ground
-Green: Output
-Red: 9V+
*If you have the BTC System which has multiple components, then I'd get the newest diagram and follow that. You can also run a wire and solder directly to each quick connect pin if needed, just make sure to cover the pins with heat shrink tubing so that nothing makes contact and shorts out.

If you or anyone has any EMG/active wiring questions, please feel free to ask me. I have done a lot of custom wiring with active systems and will attempt to help the best I can.

Re: Can somebody post old style EMG schematics?

Sorry, wasn't at home: It's a BQC system, not a BCT.

Blend, Master volume, concentric bass/treble, concentric mid...

I've got a loose dual gang pot (the blend), what is most likely the master volume connected (incompletely) to that, and two dual ganged pots connected to a small circuit board ( labeled "EMG BQ - A" ). This board has 4 pads to wire to, but no labeling to say what should go there, and I have no manual (the pitfalls of the 'bay ;) ).

My guess is that it's a working pull from a bass someone wanted converted to a different setup.

The link Pepe provided gave me what I needed (thanks!). The p'ups have volume pots with them... I can remove the blend and master volume, use the volume pots to have independent v control, and wire everything for 18v.

Sweetness. :)

Now I just need to design the bass. ;)
