Interested in a JB and I came across this pickup that is listed as a Black Nickel cover and Single conductor wiring .
From what I have read and researched , the only single conductor JB models were the 35th Anniversary and Antiquity models and had RC A5 magnets.
The regular production JB models were 4 conductor wiring and had polished A5 magnets .
Also , is the cover material used to make a Black Nickel cover model pickups different than a standard Nickel cover models , or just dull and unfinished ?
Here is the pickup in question:

PS: I tried asking the seller about this JB model but I have got no response so far.

shop floor custom is my bet, judging from the box.

the black nickel is.. black nickel. It's a nickel coating but with a slight black tinge to it. It's not dull or matte, just blacker than your regular nickel.

Its a production floor custom model. So its a JB, but when it was ordered, the buyer wanted single wire and a black nickel cover. Thats all, its just a standard seymour duncan pickup that has been special ordered and the ppl at seymour duncan can't just grab one off the shelf

One time I ordered a custom custom with no logo and zebra coils, and it came in an orange production floor custom box

Yep, nothing special other than the custom plated cover and single-conductor lead wire.

The "Black Nickel" finish is also known as "Black Chrome" (EMG), "Cosmo" (Gotoh/Ibanez) and even "smoked" or "smokey" chrome by some. It is definitely a polished look, not satin or matte.

The dude has a floor custom. It was ordered that way. Nothing particularly outlandish.
