Can someone please enlighten me on this amp: Fender Deluxe Amp

Hootersologist
There is old Fender amp at the local guitar shop, I couldn't read anything on it that would really help me out with the details on it.

I know this much... It has a Normal Channel with 2 inputs and a Vibrato Channel (I believe that's what it says...) also with 2 inputs.

To the right of both channels it says Deluxe Amp

I'm guessing it's like a Deluxe Reverb Amp, but without Reverb....

Can someone please enlighten me with some details on this amp, like # of watts 'n what not?

Thanks in Advance.

Tube amp, don't know what tubes or speaker...

Also, it's black except for the silver grill cloth.

Like that ^, except black with a silver grill cloth.

Still can't find any details on it.

Is the panel Brown?

At any rate, here's some good info: http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/

Go down to Deluxe and you'll find it.
WOW, thanks, apparently it's a blackface deluxe amp, made between '63 and '66
Like I said, it's old!

Tubes: 2 x 6V6GT

It doesn't say how many watts it is though, can anybody help me out in that area?

Well...2 6V6's in a BF Deluxe is about 22 watts...killer amp, I'd rather have the Deluxe Reverb, but the non reverb versions are cool too!

Yeah I personally like my amps to have built in reverb, if I can pick up this amp cheap I might use it to get some great cleans in my rig by running my HRD dirty and the deluxe amp clean...

We'll see :headbang:

If you get it, be prepared to give it a cap job. Often those amps have really screwed up electrolytic caps due to the age. Caps need to be changed every 10 years or so. Budget for your tech visit and possibly tubes.

The Deluxes are old school amps that you actually have to, ya know, crank up to get it to break up.

They're probably one of the great standards for Blues amps out there. The Reissues have sold like hotcakes and the originals have jumped in price for a very good reason.

I have a line on an original '65 for $1500. It'd probably mean unloading a ton of gear but from the sounds I got when I cranked it up I'm starting to convince myself it might very well be worth it.

I love my DRRI. One of the best amps Fender ever put on the market, and used by many pros in the studio.
I'd say if you can get a good deal on this amp to go ahead and snag it up. Scott's advice on allowing for possible cap work is good stuff to keep in mind, for sure. The amp itself is very easy to remove from the cabinet if need be, so just by doing that and taking it in to have a tech work on it will save you money, too.
If the Deluxe is the same as a Deluxe Reverb sans the reverb, which it sounds like it is, it might be a little bright in sound. I snipped a cap on my amp's board that took a little of the edge off the brightness....it's a well-known and used mod at the Fender Amp Forum.

the Deluxe Reverb adds another 1/2 stage of gain from the reverb driver, but the Deluxe amp can sound great when set up right

that's why I prefer the Deluxe Reverb...also remember this...your hot rod deluxe is 40 watts, that Deluxe is much closer to 20-22...I know that the HRD has "built in distortion" and at low bedroom levels you could use the Deluxe for clean and the HRD for crunch, but as soon as you try to go big and crank that Deluxe you will have 2 amps that are crunching...it will be very different crunch, but still crunch.

Thanks for the heads up!

I'll be talkin' to the guy at the shop about it tomorrow, prolly out of my price range, but I can jam on it again for good measure!
