Can the SH-14, CUSTOM 5 make a CLEAN sound, through a clean amp?

Say into a Fender Pro-Reverb, or a Twin?
How is it for cleans?

- I realize a lot of the point of it is for heavy distortion, but I was thinking it might make for some nice fat cleans too.
Anybody tried it?

I think the cleans are fine, i almost never use bridge pickups for cleans though.

Although I have never played a custom 5 in one of my own guitars, there is plenty of evidence that the cleans in a Custom 5 pickup are very clean. Two guitars in which those come as a standard bridge pickup are: the Godin LGX-SA or LGXT and some models of the Parker Maxx Fly.

Here are video demos of both so you can hear for yourself:

Absolutely.

No problem getting good cleans out of a Custom 5.

Thanks everybody, & thanks for the clips. Sounds great!

(though, on the Godin vid it doesn't say what the p/u s are, and their website says the bridge is "Custom 3" - IDK what that means.. ?)

The Custom 3 was short for a Custom Custom Custom. People at Duncan told us it was the custom wind with an Alnico 5 magnet instead of alnico 2 or a ceramic. So with requests from this forum, it became a regular in the product line, and was called the custom 5.

Ah, I get it. Thanks!
