Can you build a functional pedal board for under $100?

Honestly though, if you consider I got my Bad Monkey for $35, DS-1 for $25 (plus like $1 for mods), and $30 for a Joyo Classic Flanger; that's a speaker sim, splitter, OD, distortion and any type of modulation I want for $101 plus shipping.

So my answer is no, I can't do it, but I can get close :19:

Are Bad Monkeys that cheap these days? I think the prices on the used ones went up recently. I could easily use my Bad Monkey for my only source of gain, though, but most modern players wouldn't dig it.

My gig board is around that.
Donner DT-1 tuner $20
EHX East River Drive $55
Donner noise killer $25

sometimes I use a delay but most of the whole set is just the 2 pedals on.

Not since this video came out from Josh at JHS. Did you not see this Dave? It's destined to be a classic.

Yeah, it is amazing how one video can change the market. Did anyone actually buy one of those overpriced BMs? I am holding on to mine. Not because of the value, but because it sounds damn good.

That video actually made me like my Bad Monkey less. I still use it the same way and like the sound, but it's average user has shifted. It used to be a good cheap workhorse, now it's a slightly overpriced (>$90) pedal that's most likely been picked up by people that spend more time posting about gear for the approval of others more so than making music

I use the BM with the mixer out jack to the amp. It is a slightly darker sound that I like more.

Considering that my amp has reverb, delay and modulation built in to it, yes, I could do this easily. One Boss Super Overdrive, or my BYOC Yellow Overdrive out front with the amp footswitch and done. I have a Mosky Silver Horse on the way (well under $100) that would work too.

I have never used the direct out on a Monkey, but isn't that freaking cool?

Bad monkey plus a delay and straight to the board. How cool was that? Not that I ever did it. Still super cool.

My other guitarist just pulled his off the shelf and has been playing it pretty often lately. Sounds pretty good.

Does the BM direct out have a decent speaker sim on it? I don't have one so don't know.

Yeah, it's pretty good. It's just a really aggressive high cut. Not aggressive in the same way a tone control is, but above the cutoff the signal is pretty much completely gone. If you A/B both outputs into an amp, depending on your settings you may not even notice, but it makes a huge difference to the board

Some of those plastic Behringer pedals are great sounding .
One can get some for as low as $ 10.00, but in the last 3 months, prices for the better sounding ones are going up in price .

I never used it direct, but it sounds fantastic into an amp. It just cuts the right frequencies to me, I guess.

I could see plugging the board out in to the amp in certain situations, but when I play live I'm fully on the amp sim / cab emulator train
