Can you give me info on this Marshall......

Master Lead 30 with reverb. Following it on Ebay, looks in nice condition, good seller. I know the generalities of it, single channel, SS, etc... Just wondering if any of you have any experience with it. I had a 5210 SS Marshall that I wish I would have never gotten rid off. Could this be a decent replacement? I trust you guys more than scattered HC reviews. Too computer dumb to provide a link.

is the one with the tube power/SS pre? that was a nice amp.

regardless...old 80s Marshall (and randall for that matter) SS stuff kicks @$$. i had a 5XXX 50 w channell switcher, lead 12 stack, and recently sold my lead 12 combo to ErikH (and I regret selling it). Good stuff...a little buzzy but with some creative use of the input jacks (go low) and eq fiddling, you can get 'em pretty smooth, but still crunchy like any marshall should be at decent volumes.

It's all SS. I've been checking out the lead 12 (stack and combo), and once in a while a lead 15 stack will pop up. I hear good things about them as well. I actually got outbid at the last second on a 15 stack last week. As I said, I had the 5210, which is SS 1x12 two channels and reverb. I'm hesitating a little because the 30 or the mini stacks are only 1 channel. But I guess that's why I have the Valvetronix also.

What were some the 80's Randall SS I might look for?

They aren't too bad. I have a Lead 12 and a Lead 20 I am looking to part with.

Too many combo's at my house. I find myself playing one of my 4203's more.

Enjoy the Lead 30, it is pretty bulletproof.

IIRC, you should look for the RH100 head. Dimebag Darrell used several RH100 stacks up until around Far Beyond Driven. Those were definitely some of my favourite Pantera tones. I think the head might even be carpeted too... I saw one on eBay a few months back and I was really tempted to buy it.

A Marshall Lead 30 was my first real guitar amp back in the 80's... I used a Bass amp with some pedals for years but it was great to get what my young mind wanted.... anything that said Marshall.... I sold my Lead 30 in 1989 so it has been 17 years since i played thru one.... What i remember about mine was it was loud, sounded good for Vintage type rock but was not High Gain Metal-ish.

RG80 is the one I remember...very cool. Back in the 80s guys like Viv campbell (pre whitesnake), Def Leppard, Lynch & Tesla used them a bit. IIRC most of them had the "carpet" on them. Small knobs.

I'm not fam with 15w stack, other than the current MG stuff.

I've been using a 80's SS marshall combo for several years, and it's a GREAT amp! It's a 5210, which has been modded with a new speaker baffle and a 80's Fane 12" speaker.

Great amp, sounds awesome!

Here's an 86 30W Master Lead (non reverb). I got the deal of a lifetime on it, since I saw it sitting in a Goodwill store for $25!!! Unlike most modelers, which have a hard time getting a good vintage Marshall tone, this thing nailed the sound of a JCM 800 stack, at bedroom levels. Think AC/DC, Cult, KISS, Judas Priest. I ended up selling it for $200, and it sorta bummed me out because the buyer showed up with a Fulltone OCD, plugged in some of my guitars, and I couldn't believe how great it sounded with the OCD. I kinda regretted selling it, but the fact is, I just didn't need it taking up space.

I sold my lead 30 in 1989 thinking i'd get a better tube Marshall later on that summer.... never did get the money together and ended up using a SS Fender for 6 years
