So...Barden pickups are a bit of a fascination to me, I have several.
Like, probably 10 or more I've collected over the decades.
A basic Barden strat is two 2.15 coils wired in series with a ceramic bar magnet that sits between the blades to realize a 4.3k pickup.
And we all probably know the ice-picky comments you can read about them.
Must use 250k pots, etc...
I've removed most of the ceramic magnets for an 'A' variant in a lot of my HB pickups and I almost always like them better afterward.
So I've been curious what a Barden would sound like with a magnet swap.
Maybe an A8, maybe an A4...
But the bar magnet is thinner widthwise and a bit shorter than the typical bar magnets I buy.
I was wondering how difficult it would be to change the size of a typical bar magnet w/o making some sort of huge mess out of it.
I have grinders and belt sanders and I can do it, but was curious if this is a 'thing' others have done before.
Anyone have any experience with this at all?
Just curious.
