No, you should always have graphite or other lubrication in the nut slots.
You could put in a nut made from a more slippery material but if the graphite does the job why bother?
Bone for example is not slippery. People put it in for what they think is better sound but it will need about the same lubrication as your plastic nut.
the graphite from a pencil helped considerably so I guess the problem is the nut.
