I swaped out my stock tele cap with a orange barrel and maybe I am crazy but it seems to have a warmer fuller sound.

Re: capacitors do matter

If it works for you, why worry what anyone else thinks? Glad you think it sounds better.

I guess it all comes dowm to a matter of taste. I was bothered buy the high end bite of my texas special pups and this seemsw to have solved my problem :)

Re: capacitors do matter

I use Orange Drops. I don't hear them as sounding better or anything...I just like the way they look. And if they are better, I've got it covered. Lew

Re: capacitors do matter

Capacitors are not a precision device also. 20% tolerance can be typical. Two different caps, with the same marked value, can in fact, be quite different.

Edit: I was just thinking. If you had the time and inclination to do an experiment, you could always remove the two caps and send them to me. I work in a Navy calibration laboratory, and have some of the finest measurement equipment available in the world.

Just a thought. ;)

I think ceramics are "purer" and other types of caps have a greater effect on tone. Some like that effect, others might not. I've experienced miraculous tonal improvements just by switching caps as well.
