Capacitors

I recently bought SSL-1 Cal set Strat pickups for a project of mine, all i need now is to get a capacitor,
in the schematics that came with the pickups it says to get a .05 Mfd capacitor. I gave this information to
the person i am buying from. He got back to me saying that out of the ones he had, he needed to know what
voltage it was so as not to get the wrong one.

Im not sure what to tell him, as im not up to scratch with electronics, so if possible could you give me any info
you have about capacitors, the requirements etc, i have the wiring diagram from the SD site and on the capacitor it says ''.022''

Im lost so any help would be great!

The voltage is unnecessary, because there are only millivolt potentials coming from pickups.... a 5v or more will be more than enough

I figured the voltage was unnecessary even with my limited knowledge! Cheers for the help mate, greatly appreciated.

I think like 3 weeks ago I saw a pic of a HUGE cap (I think 1kV or so) in someone´s cavity, can´t remember if it was here or somewhere else... looked so comical I spit beer all over my monitor :laugh2:

I suppose you could make your own, if you have a couple of the less desireable value caps laying around.

Two .022 mFD caps soldered in "parallel" will yield a roughly .04-.05 mFD range.
Two .047 mFD caps soldered in "series" would yield a total of roughly .022 mFD.

These combinations would just as spot-on as any single cap (maybe even MORE accurite), as there is 20% allowed variation in stated values printed on these inexpensive components.

"Caps" is short for capacitors.
