Caps for a Sheraton II with PGs

Hello all,

I just got a brand new set of SD Pearly Gates to put into my late 90's Epi Sheraton II. I have a question on Cap Size.

I was planning to get oil paper capacitors from Allparts at .022 value but the wiring diagram from SD says to use .047 Caps. I'm thinking of sticking with my gut feeling of using the .022 size but was wondering if anybody has used the .047 in a similar setup? Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks from a newbie!

i usually prefer .02 caps for tone controls. they seem to roll off the high end about where i like it. a .05 will roll off at a lower frequency. if you dont use your tone controls much you wouldnt notice a difference

+1 to .022 caps. Higher value caps (.047) tend to roll off too much of the upper mids as well as the highs.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I decided to stick with my gut and follow your advice. I just ordered 2 paper in oil .022 caps from Allparts. Expensive little bastards but I'm hoping spending the cash will be worth it. Especially in this guitar where you cant just open it up and start tweaking things very easily.

You made the right choice with .022!
