Carl Martin Plexitone

Re: Carl Martin Plexitone

Just an update on the Plexitone....I bought one a few weeks back, have used it with mainly my Les Paul Studio and a JCM DSL50 amp w/2x12 cab and am really in love with this pedal. There's a few different ways to use it; I use the clean channel on the amp with it's "classic gain" kicked up some for clean tones, and use the Plexi to kick in some seriously nice classic rock riffs. It's truly a high-quality professional sounding pedal and has all the tone anyone could need.
It kick's ass. On a scale of 1 - 10, it's an 11.

The CM Plexi and a couple of TS-9's on the board for boost and distortion? I think I've got that area covered nicely now.

Re: Carl Martin Plexitone

I picked one up in a trade recently....haven't had the chance to completely open it up, but at lower levels thru the KT66 Edana, it's a match made in heaven :D

Clean amp
SFX-03 for rhythm & crunch
CM Plexitone for full on leads

OOOOHHHH !!!!! :32:

Rid, why the "attached" plug, as opposed to a detachable one...or wall wart?

Re: Carl Martin Plexitone

Because it has an internal -+12v powersupply:)
Meaning it has 24 volts to use.
It gives very different feel from normal 9v.
Alot more 3d and more dynamics.
Plus it has a big fat filtering in the powersupply area.
It will never loose its breath:)

Re: Carl Martin Plexitone

I've said this time and time again about the Plexitone....I get great tones from it and it has saved the day for me in every instance as far as getting a Plexi style tone...I stomp on my Marshall JackHammer or even a modded DS1,and though those pedals sound good, the Plexitone is just a better and more convincing Marshall style tone that is working great in my band...

I've used this pedal mostly with my old 50 watt Marshall and my Vox VTX head with the same great results....Haven't tryed it through my BF Fender stuff, but I haven't played those amps as much lately....Lately it's been all Marshall head only after I totally re-did it...

For all you do...this (insert beer of your choice) is for you :beerchug:

Re: Carl Martin Plexitone

Hey Rid, did you guys plan for the fact that you can press the boost and the distortion footswitches at the same time? :) That's very cool for playing live.

Re: Carl Martin Plexitone

Thanks guys, the kind words means alot:)
Hehe yeah Stevo...it was spaced that way because it both fitted and was convinent as well, two flies in one smack:D
As we say here;)

I'm in the same boat as John; I have a couple of Fender combo amps I should be using more often and using the Plexitone with, but I'm really stuck on the Marshall DSL I use that I just retubed and bias'd last weekend. The tones and sound I hear with the Plexi and my Les Paul plugged into the Marshall is nothing shy of about as pure a Marshall sound as you can get, IMO.
A superb piece of equipment worthy of any level guitar player. Kudos to Niels for his skills, talent, and ears in bringing the Plexitone into our world!

Man you are embarrassing me here:D
Just wanted to make Marshall voiced pedal that I would like myself:)
Never had any idea that it would become this popular!
It is still our best selling overdrive and pedal.
I sometimes gets overwhelmed by it...it is indeed a strange thing to me, but also a pleasent one.

Well....Now you know why it's your most popular selling pedal..

Cause it Rocks and has Tone!

Re: Carl Martin Plexitone

I didnt have good luck with the Plexitone it had all the nice features on it too but just wasnt to my liking with my amps, I'm sure with the right amps it kicks major ass!

Rid how does the Crush Zone compare to the Plexitone, any similar qualitys is it more compatable with fender amps? .... Just curious!

You gotta get it through a great sounding british preamp and then it totally rocks!

Yep and that came right from RID!

Really I was sold on it after hearing clips from Stevo,Jeff B,RID,and maybe others? Guys whos styles and tones I think are similar to my own?

;)
Thanks.
As I have explained earlier, it works as an extension of a British voiced amp, it is not going to give much of a Marshall sound through some Fender amp or anything alike, use pedals with alot of colouring there, much eq is needed for that, and it collides with my preferences bigtime, that is why the Plexi is made the way it is:)
The Crush Zone is a fuzzy mean distortion, it is cool for oldstyle Gilmour and sounds like that, it has less qualms with what amp powers it.
But the last overdrive from us has not yet been made, more stuff will turn up later;)
