Carvin CT Pickup Swap, Pics, and Report

I posted this today on BirdsAndMoons.com about my new Carvin CT4C. I ended up replacing a lot of the electronics and the stock pickups with DiMarzios, but used the original Carvin pickup rings. I had to mod the pickups slightly to make it all work, but I think I did a pretty clean job and it all works as it should.

those chrome tops are KILLER looking.

I used to be a fan of the Tone Zone, but something clicked in me somewhere along the road and I didn't care for the sound anymore. I found that I'm a Super Distortion, Duncan Distortion, and Lawrence L500 dude. But cool job!

What was about the Tone Zone that "clicked" for you? I'm obviously still a fan, but I'm always on the prowl. I'll admit it's not exactly rich in chimey high-end sparkle, but I figured it made up for that in big chunky mids.
