Carvin CT7 California Carved Top 7 String - sweet

Carvin CT7 California Carved Top 7 String - sweet

Nice if you want a custom guitar.

They just had a Carvin CT in the used section of Guitar Center. Build quality is on par with the Schecter Diamond series, though with much higher quality woods. Anyone expecting a true PRS clone- the top isn't as extremely carved as a PRS, and while you get a better top than PRS, the mahogany back isn't matched up as nice.

Other than that, a great guitar, though anyone in the market for a 7 string should also look at Strictly 7 guitars, I saw a custom 8 string that a guy walked in with, and it was a fine custom guitar for a reasonable price

was that the only CT6 you have seen in person though?

I have a Contour 66 and it's pretty great, holds up well next to my Lipe Virtuoso. Sucker resonates like no other and is great quality. However, the Wilkinson model Carvin uses is complete junk and needs to be dropped, that's a serious issue. Those lower grade Wilkinsons do not hold tune at all.

Yup, it was the CT6. I think their DC series is a great deal.

Carvin released these a few weeks ago. They seem to be a big hit.

well not too many make a 7 string with a set neck, its maiinly bolt ons or more expensive neck throughs. I speced one out with SS frets, OFR, mahogany body with maple/ebony neck and it was about 1600? Not bad at all. Wish they had this last fall when I got my contour 66...
