Carvin for sale in stock guitars: Returned custom orders?

I was curious, are the already made axes Carvin shows on their site returned custom builds from disapointed customers? Or are they actually done up from the get go to sell on the site? Kind of curious.

I don't know.

I have always assumed that the in-stock guitars are returns. Because they are always so weird - not usually "mass appeal" type guitars.

Floyds witn Tusq nuts and locking tuners... a neat idea, but I never figure such a thing would be a production run guitar.

They can't possibly be spec built. They're always too specific, and there are never two of the same listed.

I think the people guessing that they're guitars sent back on the 10-day return policy are correct.

not too off topic but i noticed that carvins are much better sounding than i assumed. neil zaza is now endorsing them and the tone he gets is one of his best. his tone is better now with the carvin guitar and pu's then is was with his guitar loaded with a duncan CC/59 set:wall:

I'll definitely consider a Carvin for my next guitar.

I'm having a hard time containing myself from grabbing this.

The only thing that has kept me from buying several Carvin models is the complete inability to see what you've specc'd before purchasing. The photo gallery is limiting by comparison to the possible options. This one definately needs gold pick-up covers and trapezoid or block inlays and not that swirly crap.

I expect it's a combination of returns, cancelled orders and "fillers". I do see a lot of fairly common offerings there which were probably built intentionally for stock during slow periods.

Yeah, I am considering a Custom orderd Bolt T model with 2 HBs...

oh and the stainless steel frets are something I been wanting

the pickups are nice and warm

If I could play better I would order another without a doubt

Some people say SS frets kill tone, but some love them. Guthrie rocks them, the new EVH guitars use them. I wonder if I could even tell if I was handed an axe and no one said/told me it had SS frets. It's definitely attractive for the simple fact that you'd never have to replace them.

Re: Carvin for sale in stock guitars: Returned custom orders?

Actually both.

They are both returns as well as builds from the beginning for the buy-now page.
You can easily tell the two, the builds ARE generic whereas the more funky ones are most probably returns...

Carvin is one of the companies that I always said my next guitar would be (the other being Schecter).
Two things stopped me, the neck (LOVED the shape of the BOLT's neck but wanted a DC) and the local seller...

Oh, BTW, my Stinnett SS6 has Jescar's SS frets and I LOVE them!

The guitars in the catalogs are probably fine examples of good feature sets.

The guitars that are custom ordered returns always end up in Carvin's store showrooms. When you go in there, you'll see things with odder features, telling you it was likely a return. But the prices are more on par with the most basic of that model.....so those add ons are essentially free.
