Carvin pickups

Re: Carvin pickups

While I do think that Carvin pups are decent, I'd like to see them offer non Carvin pup options. I know Gibson and Fender don't do that, but Carvin does present themselves as a custom builder of sorts. I agree that it would help their sales.
I would be happy if I could buy them without pickups installed. Their controls are already PCB based so the could use screw terminals like the blackouts and provide a wiring conversion guide for most major manufacturers pickups. Just drop in your pickups and attach to the terminals

Re: Carvin pickups

Oh, I wouldn't go that far. They're good, well-made, but not great PU's. One drawback is that you can't swap magnets with them. Last I knew, the only alnico they used was A5.

Carvin used to make a single coil that was Alnico (don't remember the model number), and they sounded pretty good. They changed the single coils to ceramic mag at one point, and sold off the remaining Alnico ones for cheap prices. My brother bought a few of the Alnico single coils when they blew them out, and he likes them better than the ceramic version.
