Catalinbread RAH

I took it out for a spin at practice with the Vox AC15. So we played it loud and it worked. I don't have a real Hiwatt to be honest. I have it simulated with my Positive Grid but after playing that for 4 months I've memorized the tone. So when I used the RAH with the VOX I think it faithfully recreated the tone in my head. The VOX has to be somewhat clean though. I had the Top boost and master volume at 5 for each. Earlier it was Master at 8 but the "gain" is low or else the character of the VOX and the muffle overtakes. I was using a les paul with Custom 5.

At home at low volumes or when you first get the RAH pedal you can't really discern the tone. I tried to sell the pedal twice but took it off the market. I'll keep it as a backup.

anyways that is my review. out.

Re: Catalinbread RAH

What I've read of this pedal seems to emphasize its clean and unforgiving nature. How does it do on dirt? What kind of stuff are you playing through it, and what do you get from it that the AC15 by itself doesn't?

Re: Catalinbread RAH

I'm playing stuff like early U2. It doesn't do well with dirt. The RAH's gain is less than the amp's gain so it behaves like a CUT pedal if I use it that way. The AC15 by itself has the boomy-ness and the RAH has its own tone. I was just trying it out since i thought the AC15 would add a bit of tube girth and bass.
