Re: Category #11 Submissions: Best shot of a Duncan in a guitar
Great info!!! Thanks!!
FU doesn't have a titanium unit. Just things like saddles and blocks, for example.
Ben, at TiSonix, has aerospace-level proficiency working with top of the line solid billet titanium, not cast. Ben's work is totally on spec to the original Floyd dimensions, even more so than what you can get from a regular FR today (Special, 1000, or even German). Additionally, he's released a full ABR bridge & tailpiece assembly, as well as working on a titanium wraparound and also a titanium strat trem. TiSonix also makes titanium neck plates, but literally everyone agrees the tonal impact of that is no more than a titanium string tree or a titanium spring claw. there's other stuff that Ben is doing that's not my place to mention, but it's VERY cool.
Adam, at FU, is someone that used to be a sales guy for Floyd Rose. I don't know what sort of titanium he's using.
there are places that make titanium parts that definitely use commercial/medical grade titanium. that stuff will wear under usage if in contact with strings.
I can say that aside from that full TiSonix ti rig, I also have TiSonix locking saddles and locking nuts on 5 other guitars. I lost count of the TiSonix titanium spring claws, which are not a bad deal at about $18.
Great info!!! Thanks!!
